]]> http://spartaunited.org/?feed=rss2&p=822 0 U-18 Boys Have great tournament http://spartaunited.org/?p=809 http://spartaunited.org/?p=809#comments Thu, 24 Jun 2010 19:33:18 +0000 admin http://spartaunited.org/?p=809 We would like to congratulate our U-18 Boys, coached by Marco deRuiter, they  just completed a tournament in Boulder, CO where they finished as runners up.  In group play they finished second in their bracket, beating Solar (TX) 3-1 and Boulder (CO) 3-1, and losing 3-2 to Pride (CO).  They advanced to Semis where they played Colorado Storm (CO) and came out on top 3-0.  In the final they were matched up against a great team in Downtown Las Vegas (NV) and after a hard fought battle they ended up losing 1-0.

We want to congratulate the boys on a job well done.  This tournament serves as a college showcase where many of our players are trying to seize the opportunity of extending their soccer careers.

At Far West Regionals in Albuquerque, New Mexico our U-12 Boys finished as Semi-Finalists.  Our U-14 Boy’s and Girls’s finished as Quarterfinalists, along with our U-15 Girls.  Congratulations!!

In Phoenix our U-12 Premier Boy’s coached by Jeff Sands were Semi-Finalists.  On the Girl’s side our U-14 Premier team finished as Champions. Our U-15 Girls team were Semi-Finalists, and our U-17 team were Finalists.  All three girls teams are coached by Dennis Burrows.  A great showing in the “Grand Canyon State”

In Las Veags at the Mayor’s Cup our U-17 Premier Girls team coached by John Gebhard won the tournament.  Congratulations Girls!!

In St. George we also had great success.  On the Boy’s side, Blaine Burnett’s U-11 Premier Team were Finalists along with John Gygi’s U-12 team.  On the Girl’s side we finished with 3 Champions.  Bruce Cuppett’s U-9 Premier, Shane Swenson’s U-11 and Rhett Scherschligt’s U-12.

The Class of 2010, 1992 Girls team has signed letters of intent for their respective colleges.  We are very proud of these young women and are excited for them to continue their career in soccer.  We know that they will represent Sparta well and have a great college experience.  The team is coached by Patrick Rennie.
